Never give up on your dream because of the time it takes to accomplish it.

What initially made me go into medicine? What inspires me? How do us students justify on a day-to-day basis, the time, effort and stress we go through, some of us only 22 years old, to become physicians?
It's hard. I am sure you have heard, medical school is no joke. I came into my first year in August 2018, expecting work, but not expecting exactly how much... I always thought people were exaggerating when they said "you study ALL the time", "you go to class for 8 hours and then study for 10", or "say goodbye to your old life".
Spoiler alert: They weren't kidding!

Since August, I have spent more time studying than I did in my entire 16 years of schooling prior to medical school. I learned 2 semesters (30 weeks) of biochemistry in 3 weeks. I dissected a human body in 12 weeks, as opposed to the partial dissection (over 2 semesters!) that I did in undergrad. It is an OVERLOAD of information.
But I love it.

The amount of things I'm learning, the science, the patient care, the compassion; it's mind-blowing, in the best and worse ways.
I keep my motivation (though difficult) by remembering what got me here in the first place: my desire to help others, my passion for science and health, and my aspiration to better the world around me.
